Tratado de Crocodilianos do Brasil "Tratado de Crocodilianos do Brasil" (= Treatise on Crocodilians of Brazil) was launched on 14 August 2021, and represents an innovative and relevant academic contribution to herpetology and Brazilian society. The book involved a multitude of professionals over a 3-year period, and was coordinated by editors André Barreto-Lima, Marcelo de Deus Santos and Yhuri Nóbrega. Sixty-nine qualified researchers from different academic and technical backgrounds, institutions, NGOs, companies, and countries (Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, USA, Venezuela) collaborated on the book. The 24 chapters are divided into 6 themes (paleontology, and taxonomy, field methods, sustainable use, veterinary medicine, cultural and traditional knowledge, research and perspectives on conservation). The book is freely available in the virtual library of Projeto Caiman (https://www.imd.org.br/bibliocaiman). ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Species of the Year 2021" The Zoological Society for Species and Population Conservation (ZGAP) has chosen endangered crocodilians as "Species of the Year 2021", a campaign that is aimed at raising awareness of the threats and conservation needs of lesser-known wildlife species kept in zoos, and raising funds for conservation projects. A Conservation Success Story"
The history of crocodile management in the Northern Territory of Australia (NT) has been pulled together by Professor Grahame Webb into an easy-to-read booklet, which will be available very soon. The NT provides an interesting case study of how sustainable use has been successfully used to conserve a large predator, in this case the Saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). But the road to this success has not always been smooth, and Professor Webb discusses the past and current threats to this management program. "Marginals": Caimans of the Atlantic Forest
In a recent CSG Newsletter [39(1): 13-14] we reported on the launching of "Marginals": Caimans of the Atlantic Forest (in Portuguese and English) in November 2019. Projeto Caiman have made the book available as a downloadable pdf. the 26th CSG Working Meeting and the Drone Workshop until May 2021,
we wish to avoid having CSG members miss out on information that could
potentially assist their research, management and conservation efforts in the
interim. To that end, and in keeping with our original goal of establishing an
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) community of practice within the CSG, we are
providing a range of resources here. We intend for this to be an open and interactive
forum, and we encourage submissions and input from participants.
---------------------------------------------------------------------- Building Public Awareness of New Hunting Regulations in Madagascar
The Madagascar Crocodile Conservation and Sustainable Use Program (MCCSUP), launched in 2014 in collaboration with the Malagasy CITES Management Authority, to assist Madagascar to improve crocodile conservation and management, recently released some public education materials to raise public awareness on new hunting regulations. A colouring book was produced for distribution to schools, a poster was developed highlighting the hunting regulations, and a cartoon-style film developed for television. The short film features local dialect, music, folklore and wildlife (view film). CSG Newsletter 39(2) contains more details on this initiative.

Due to the Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic, the 26th CSG Working Meeting to held in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, has been postponed again, to July 2022.
